As predicted last week, RIM has gone ahead and launched its BBM Music service in beta in the USA, UK and Canada.
BBM Music, as it has been dubbed, will give users the ability to share music with their BlackBerry Messenger friends, as well as find music and people who share the same musical tastes.
“The size of your library continues to grow as you add new friends, and you can select music from a catalog with millions of songs,” reads the BlackBerry press release. There are currently 10 Million songs in the catalogue.
Users can build up a music profile of up to 50 songs, invite their BBM friends to try the service, share playlists or songs and cache music for offline listening.
The service is only free for the first month, after which users will be asked to stump up $4.99 a month for it. There’s also an option for users to buy music directly from the Blackberry Music Store.
