Nokia Siemens Networks has inaugurated a new center in Mexico to deliver remote services to operators across Latin America and around the world. The service delivery center will provide network design and planning as well as optimization and assurance for both networks and the services running over them.
Daniel Miráble, head of services at Nokia Siemens Networks – Latin America, told RCR Wireless News that the new center in Mexico complements NSN’s global network operations center (GNOC) launched in May in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Both serve five countries where NSN has business: Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Argentina and Peru. The GNOC’s first client was NII Holdings (Nasdaq: NIHD), which operates under the Nextel brand in Latin America. Carrier uses the GNOC to centralize its network operations, since Nokia Siemens Networks manages its operations.

In Mexico, the new center joins Nokia Siemens Networks’ existing global network of SDCs for optimizing networks remotely for operators. The company’s four other service delivery centers are in Chennai and Noida in India, Lisbon in Portugal, and from Shanghai in China.
The Mexican center provides network planning and optimization services, while the GNOC in Brazil operates and monitors the network. The GNOC was launched to serve as a near-shore location for operators in the Americas time zones.
Latin America’s telecom market is growing rapidly with increasing demand for higher value services, said Eduardo Araujo, head of Nokia Siemens Networks in the Latin America region, adding that Mexico is a high-growth market. NSN estimates Mexico is the region’s second-largest market with more than 23% share of the Latin American market in 2011.
The global network of five service delivery centers supports multitechnology, multivendor networks for operators. These centers support radio (2G, 3G and 4G technologies), transport, core and IP networks, as well as a variety of services, applications and devices.
