Peru and Chile are set to meet in an attempt to hash out telecommunications agreements and address important topics in order to integrate and share their experiences for the sector. Both countries agreed that the shared development of telecommunications is important for economic and productive development.
The two countries said they would look to address alternative solutions to issues such as direct interconnectivity fiber optic networks between both countries and international roaming. They also said they might look at coordinating the frequency allocation plans for telecommunications services for areas of ​​Tacna and Arica.

The countries are also analyzing the fundamental technical models for numbering plans applicable to the provisioning of emergency services.
This is not the first time Peru and Chile have met to address telecoms issues. In August 2010, they signed a bill into the bilateral meeting between Chile’s Department of Telecommunications and Peru’s Ministry of Transport and Communications to address common interests.
In January this year the presidents of Peru and Chile recognized the importance of a common agenda relating to the telecommunications sector.
