IT services provider Atos said it plans to acquire a 50% stake in MSL Group, which provides real-time results and information systems for major sports events. Atos, which is a worldwide IT partner for the Olympic and Paralypic Games, noted that combined the operations would count 500 specialized business technologists integrating teams of up to 5,000 IT experts to support major events.

Employees from both companies are based in Spain and are expected to start collaborating immediately on projects and new developments.
The deal, which is expected to close by March 31, also includes an option for Atos to acquire the remaining 50% of MSL Group.
The deal seals a long term relationship that started with 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. The companies said that they offer highly complementary services and that together they will have the expertise and portfolio of services to support medium and large sporting events worldwide. Atos had delivered 50 global events worldwide since 1989.
The combined portfolio will be able to provide timing and scoring services, as well as an information diffusion systems that distributes the results of an event to international media, news agencies, websites and TV graphics. It also is set to include games management systems, system integration and game time operations.
