Alright, let’s get this point out of the way first. American Roamer has changed its name to Mosaik Solutions, in a move the company said will “help better reflect the company’s position” as a source for “coverage solutions for the global network ecosystem.”
Translation: As American Roamer has expanded its communications coverage maps outside of the United States, it makes sense to take on a new name reflecting that global ambition. Makes sense.
American Ro … er, Mosaik, is having its coming out party at this week’s Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona, Spain, including showing off new coverage maps and software emblazoned with the new logo.
“Mosaik Solutions has grown well beyond America – it is global,” noted Mosaik CEO Bryan Darr, in explaining the company’s evolution. “Our capabilities are beyond mobile and roaming – we have intelligence solutions for the entire network ecosystem. As a company that provides the most robust, creative and technical solutions on the market, we wanted a name that clearly conveyed who we are and what we provide. We take disparate pieces of intelligence and create elegant solutions to help clients manage customer expectations and empower them to make better strategic and tactical business decisions.”
For those unfamiliar with Mosaik’s past, when it was called American Roamer in case you already forgot, the company provides mapping solutions for telecommunications coverage patterns, wireless spectrum depth, network configurations and licensing data. The company provides geospatial, analytical, creative and Web solutions to meet both client needs as well as for mapping resources. In fact, the Federal Communications Commission has singled out the company as a prime source for coverage and license reference. Those clients include Verizon Communications, Time Warner, On-Star and Comcast.
As part of its global expansion Mosaik announced a deal with U.K.-based Europa Technologies to distribute Mosaik’s Global Coverage Analyzer and CellMaps services. The deal will see Europa use Mosaik’s coverage “tiling” application programming interface to show global LTE, HSPA, CDMA200 1x EV-DO and WiMAX coverage.
Mosaik also unveiled its MapElements solution that allows more in-depth coverage modules using polygons and coverage areas for all broadcasters in the United States. This includes wireless, cable and telecom ecosystems, as well as regional and independent telcom operator coverage.
