The point HP makes is that LTE is both a challenge and an opportunity for communications service providers (CSPs), and HP aims to help them to use their assets to forge personalized, loyal customer relationships that can lead to entirely new revenue streams.
“LTE is a revolution for the industry. From the telecom operator’s point of view there are risks and opportunities, since they are facing challenges to deliver IP connections to end users that aim to be always on,” Amir Einav, HP Enterprise Services’ manager, communications and media solutions, told RCR Wireless News, adding that HP is very excited with LTE’s perspectives.
Einav pointed out that in the LTE environment, IP connections need to become more efficient, which is a technology challenge.
The announcements include expansion of its HP Actionable Customer Intelligence portfolio with two offerings designed for CSPs: the HP Home Subscriber Server (HSS) solution and the HP Subscriber, Network and Application Policy (SNAP) management solution.
The first solution is enhanced with mobility management features that help CSPs migrate smoothly from 2G/3G networks to LTE networks, while SNAP integrates real-time charging (billing) so CSPs can apply business rules that allow personalized services and offers to customers.
HP is also seeking to address carriers’ needs of migrating from 2G and 3G networks to 4G/LTE, as well as using data to pain a more holistic view of the subscriber and then use real-time capabilities to offer them tailored services and promotions, and OSS-Transformation for carriers to better compete with LTE, cloud and other services with a more holistic OSS framework.
Earlier this February, HP announced that Liaoning Mobile, a fast-growing division of China Mobile, has selected HP solutions and services to manage its network operations. In January, HP noted that Hutchison 3G (H3G) Austria, one of the country’s largest communications service providers (CSPs), deployed the HP Home Subscriber Server (HSS) as the core of a new, long-term evolution (LTE) network that will bring much faster speeds and a better mobile Internet experience to its 1.2 million customers.
