Mobile payments provider BOKU has added Sprint Nextel to its list of customers. BOKU will now be providing mobile payment solutions to all four major U.S. carriers. The company has contracts with a number of major online retailers, and enables carriers to offer customers the option to purchase from these retailers using their mobile phones. “Sprint is committed to giving our customers safe and secure options for making purchases using their wireless device, whether it is through direct carrier billing or using a mobile wallet,” said Sprint Nextel VP Fared Adib, in a press release.
Sprint Nextel has developed a proprietary mobile wallet, while the other three major U.S. carriers have combined forces to form ISIS, a joint mobile payments venture set to launch this summer in test markets Salt Lake City and Austin.
San Francisco-based BOKU also announced two key hires this week. Jon Prideaux, formerly an executive VP at Visa, and Stuart Neal, formerly managing director of international development for Barclaycard, are joining the BOKU executive team as chief business officer and senior vice president of business development, respectively.
