Chilean President Sebastián Piñera said in a statement that such initiatives allow the two countries to take steps toward a larger and more solid collaboration.

“Chile is leading the technological convergence in the region,” said Jorge Atton, Chile’s undersecretary of telecommunications, in a statement. “And this type of bilateral agreement allows us to expand our knowledge further and create technology transfer opportunities in the coming years in the context of the massification of high-speed mobile networks and the 4G fourth generation of telecommunications.”

According to Subtel, the agreement will broaden professionals’ knowledge in networking, software performance, operation and maintenance. Huawei will be responsible for facilitating the development of training, and it will provide a multidisciplinary technical team of engineering specialists in the development and deployment of converged networks.

The training is comprised of three stages. The first two will be held in Chile, and the final stage will be held in China. Chile’s Subtel will send a group of engineers to be trained directly in the laboratory, where they will able to test the technologies.
