Will next iPhone come in multiple colors?

Taiwan’s Apple.pro blog posted these photos today of what appears to be the next-generation iPhone. It looks like the iconic device will debut in white this fall, with a camera in the center of frame, facing front and back. The black device shown in the picture is the backside of the white device.

Apple appears to have lengthened the iPhone without increasing the width. Although the company is notoriously secretive about plans for its devices, most reports so far have indicated that the next iPhone will sport a bigger screen, while the next iPad will be smaller.

At one time, the late Steve Jobs dismissed the idea of 7-inch tablets, such as Amazon’s Kindle. Now, with the Galaxy Nexus 7 selling out during its first weekend in retail stores, the market seems to be proving that there is definitely a place for smaller tablets, especially when they are priced below $200.

The latest reports of a mini-iPad surfaced this weekend in the New York Times, which says Apple will announce a 7.85 inch iPad this year and will price it well below the $500 mark. No word yet on whether Apple will cut its price to meet that of Google’s $199 Nexus 7. The Cupertino cash machine could certainly afford to do so, but unlike Google it is not selling devices as a way to support another part of its business. (Google’s primary business is selling advertising, and the Nexus 7 is a way to increase use of the Google search engine and the Google Play content service.)
