A new free app allows users to receive and answer texts from the comfort of their own computer keyboard — no matter what type of computer, operating system or mobile phone they have. Using a cloud-based account, the app dubbed Mysms can synchronize texts among a wide range of mobile, Web and desktop platforms.
Developed by the Austrian-based mobile messaging company Up to Eleven, Mysms was released in beta form in Europe and currently syncs more than 100 million messages. July 20 marks its worldwide launch.
“People value a full keyboard,” Martin Pansy, CEO and founder of Up to Eleven, told RCR Wireless News. “We thought ‘what people really need is to receive text messages on their desktop computer and be able to reply with a full keyboard.'”

There are similar apps on the market, such as MightyText, but according to Up to Eleven, Mysms is the only one that currently crosses multiple platforms. It’s also more flexible, Pansy added.
“Our solution is more comprehensive than our competitors because it comes with open APIs,” Pansy said. “So developers can build around it.”
While the app is free, Up to Eleven hopes to “white label” the service for carriers, and while he would not disclose names, Pansy said the company is in conversation with several European companies about the service.
“For operators, it is important to offer additional functionality with the core SMS service. That is where we jump in,” Pansy said.
