A few days before the announcement that Japan’s Softbank will purchase a controlling interest in Sprint Nextel, RCR Wireless News talked to two C-level executives from the telecom company about Sprint’s role in the Latin American region at last week’s Futurecom event (check out all stories) held in Rio de Janeiro, October 8-11.
“Latin America is actually outperforming the rest of the world,” said John Echeverri, Sprint‘s vice president for the Americas. Across the region, the company provides MPLS and traditional wireline services, as well as machine to machine.
Separately, Yijing Brentano, vice president for international wholesale and business development at Sprint, commented about the challenges Latin American carriers face in deploying LTE.
