The start of the new year was a busy one for the wireless industry, with the annual Consumer Electronics Show knocking lose the cobwebs that tend to settle in during the holiday-soaked ending to every year. Last week was no exception, as wireless carriers made a number of moves that looked to set an aggressive agenda for 2013.
Those announcements included Dish Network’s bid to usurp Sprint Nextel’s ongoing attempt to acquire Clearwire; the pre-announcement of limited fourth quarter results from a handful of operators highlighting what could be a difficult quarter for rivals; and the continued spread of Apple’s iPhone product into the no-contract sales channel.
RCR Wireless News Editor-In-Chief Dan Meyer spoke with long-time industry analyst Bill Ho to get his opinion on some of the top news items of what was a very busy opening to 2013.
