Building on its $840 million acquisition of BrightPoint last year, Ingram Micro debuted its Ingram Micro Mobility business unit, combining its existing mobile group with its BrightPoint assets. Ingram Micro noted the new unit will focus on providing end-to-end solutions for “the lifecycle of mobile devices.”
Specifically, Ingram Micro Mobility will work with customers on “moving mobile products from manufacturing, providing customization services, fulfilling through all channels (retail, company store, indirect dealer and directly to an end-user), managing transportation and logistics, and providing complete integrated reverse and recover services.”
Ingram Micro added that the new business unit would benefit current BrightPoint customers by providing further optimization of their supply chains; access to new selling channels; and access to new markets, including Vietnam, the Philippines, South Africa, China, Hong Kong, France, Latin America and Canada.
