Regional wireless operator C Spire Wireless said it has gone with Openwave Mobility’s Promotion and Pricing Innovation mobile data charging solution for the carrier’s “choice” and “shared” data plans.
The carrier’s choice plans allow both postpaid and prepaid customers to purchases “passes” for “premium” data services at the time of consumption using an “in-line subscription experience.” C Spire added that this feature allows customers to better control both data usage and costs.
For the shared plans, C Spire said it was relying on the Openwave platform to allow customers to allocate monthly data plan usage among the multiple subscribers and devices. The carrier noted that once a customer on either its choice or shared plans reach their data quota, they are notified and allowed the option to purchase more data.
C Spire launched its shared data plans late last year, following in the footsteps of larger operators that began offering shared data buckets. The offering followed the launch of the carrier’s LTE network last fall.
