Dialogic said that its SS7 signaling server has been deployed by Spanish operator Lleida.net to enhance its SMS connectivity with other operators, and that the carrier seeking to connect with a broader range of other carriers for SMS service closed on nearly 200 operator peering agreements within three months of the deployment.
Dialogic said its DSI SS7G41 signaling server for SMS provided better connection efficiency and the ability to transition to diameter signalling for future LTE deployments. SS7 is a widely-used protocol for communication between network elements, but eventually will be phased out altogether by 3GPP standards.
The company also provided Lleida.net with training services to help the carrier better understand the SS7 protocol. Sisco Sapena, Lleida.net’s CEO, said in a statement that the upgrade not only allowed the carrier to reach more destinations and improve the quality of its service, but “allowed us to rapidly deploy without expanding our operations workforce or outsourcing to a third party.”
