Google is taking direct aim at Facebook and Twitter with its new MixBit video editing app for YouTube. According to The New York Times, MixBit will work the same way Twitter’s Vine and Facebook’s Instagram videos work, in that users will hold down their fingers on the touchrscreen to record videos.
MixBit, created by the founders of YouTube, allows users to create a video of up 16 seconds, and it also allows them to combine videos into one long show of up to an hour. Users can also grab other people’s YouTube videos and include them in their edited pieces. The MixBit app is set to go live in the iTunes store today.
