A former Verizon Communications executive will run Juniper Networks starting in January.
Shaygan Kheradpir has been selected by the company as its next chief executive officer; he will succeed Kevin Johnson, who announced in July that he would be retiring as CEO but remain a member of the company’s board.
Kheradpir comes to Juniper from Barclays PLC, where he has served as chief operations and technology officer after joining the company in 2011. Prior to Barclays, Kheradpir was executive vice president and chief information and technology officer at Verizon Communications. He was an original member of the management team was Verizon was created — president of the company’s eBusiness unit at the time. During his time at the company, helped create and implement technologies including IP multimedia and Verizon’s FiOS service. He holds a bachelor’s, master’s and Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Cornell University.
“Shaygan has a proven track record of successful business operations and technology leadership, with industry knowledge and technical vision from the perspectives of both telecommunications service providers and global enterprises,” said Scott Kriens, Juniper’s board chairman, in a statement. “Most importantly, Shaygan’s values and vision for the company align very tightly with our own, building a strong foundation for Juniper’s future.”
Kheradpir will take the reins as CEO on Jan. 1.
