Agilent Technologies has launched its new E7515A UXM wireless test set, for functional and RF design for Category 6 chipsets and devices that can enable speeds of up to 300 Mbps downlink.
Joe DePond, general manager of Agilent’s mobile broadband operation, called the UXM “a true breakthrough” that provides “ample headroom for tomorrow” for design validation of LTE and LTE-A chipsets and user equipment.
The solution combines two independent 100-MHz RF transceivers, according to Agilent, and enables testing across multiple cells, carrier aggregation, MIMO up to 4×2, and integrated fading.
—Rohde & Schwarz has extended the deadline for paper submissions to its annual LTE Innovation Summit that will be held April 9-10 in Del Mar, Calif. The conference will focus on LTE-Advanced, VoLTE and small cells and papers in a variety of technical areas including carrier aggregation, Wi-Fi offloading, MIMO, and others.
Complete information is here and the deadline for submissions has been extended until Feb. 4.
—National Technical Instruments can now perform certification testing for the Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA) 2.0 specification for home entertainment networking, in order to start getting devices which meet that new spec to market.

—EXFO Inc. has added new capabilities to its optical spectrum analyzer models FTB/IQS-5240S-P and FTB-IQS-5240BP to meet the needs of testing 40G or 100G networks. EXFO said its first coherent Pol-Mux 40G/100G optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) testing capabilities (called WDM-Aware Pol-Mux)are available as a software upgrade option.
“With more and more operators deploying 40G or 100G coherent systems on metro and long-haul dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) networks to meet the ever-increasing demand for bandwidth, Pol-Mux OSNR and the use of a Pol-Mux OSA have become essential requirements for commissioning and troubleshooting networks,” the company said, because systems that feature polarization multiplexing “have made it impossible to carry out OSNR measurements with traditional methods.”
“This approach is the first and only 100G-ready coherent Pol-Mux OSNR method available in the industry. These newly launched capabilities provide network operators with the ability to resolve some of their biggest high speed challenges, such as reducing OPEX, thereby removing the uncertainty of test results for first-time-right testing,” said Etienne Gagnon, VP of EXFO’s test and measurement division.
