A number of vendors announced the release of new software products this week, including solutions for protocol testing, call center switching, software defined networks and voice communications.
GL unveils new UMTS protocol test suite
Earlier this week, GL Communications Inc. unveiled its newest software offering, an enhanced version of its UMTS Protocol Analysis and Emulation suite of tools, comprised of a UMTS analyzer and emulator. Jagdish Vadalia, GL senior manager product development, said that the analyzer component can capture and decode activity on different interfaces, and the emulator has the ability to reproduce major circuit-switched and packet-switched interface data in UTRAN networks. The solution can also perform a range of measurement, testing and troubleshooting capabilities.
SwitchRay's new class 5 softswitch solution
SwitchRay also released a new product recently, the SR-S5000 VoIP service platform, which makes new features available for boosted call center productivity and functionality. The system has built-in capabilities for searching out available operators to address incoming calls, as well as functions for call queuing and handling. SwitchRay's new product provides users with the option for improved call recording, enabling them to view and listen to audio files through the Web. The company also added another new feature, Call Barge-In, which allows third-party supervisors to connect to an ongoing call between a client and call center agent.
"These improved call center features significantly expand the service offering our retail VoIP customers can provide to their end-users," said SwitchRay president Fathi Hakam. "Our goal is to provide operators with the most effective tools available in order to deliver the highest quality services to their subscribers."
Qosmos announces new SDN and SFV products
Qosmos recently made new products for software defined networking and simple file verification available to industry users. The offerings form a three-phase strategy for SDN and SFV product portfolios, and include the Service Aware Module (SAM) for virtual switch, DPI as a Virtual Network Function Component (VNFC) and Service Chaining Module. The new software is based on the company's ixEngine for recognizing and extracting network data in real time.
The SAM for Virtual Switch solution is a flexible program that can be deployed with a range of vSwitches for live traffic intelligence and an infrastructure-based application overview. The VNFC offering manages application information and metadata via an optimized interface running on a virtual machine. This system allows telcos to enhance evolved packet core components through live traffic data, which can create opportunities for cost reduction and improved use of equipment. Finally, the Service Chaining Module utilizing packet-tagging capabilities and protocol extension for better use of resources and service customization.
BT One Voice Radianz
BT also announced a new offering at the beginning of March: the BT One Voice Radianz platform that links voice, mobile and data services via the BT Radianz Cloud. The system was specifically designed to meet the needs of the financial services market and provides a secure location for unified communications. The solution eliminates the need for siloed UC network connections, enabling financial firms to lessen required capital and decrease operating costs.
