Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg says mobile is the platform of today, and that he wants to be ready for the platform of tomorrow. With that goal, Facebook is paying $2 billion for Oculus, a maker of virtual reality glasses and software, which it sells to developers. One game developer — the maker of Minecraft — has already tweeted that he will cancel plans to make a game for the Oculus glasses now that Facebook is buying the company.
Oculus was founded by Southern California’s Palmer Luckey. The 21-year-old is living up to his name today — he and his investors are selling the company for $400 million in cash and 23 million shares in Facebook, for a grand total of $2 billion.
