Jury selection is underway in the latest court battle between Apple and Samsung. This time the two leading smartphone makers are arguing about patents related to the iPhone 5 and the Galaxy S3. Apple says Samsung illegally used its technology that enables swipe to unlock, and the technology that enables you to call a phone number in a web search by tapping the number.
Even before the two companies have started fighting about technology, they found something else to fight about – according to PC World Samsung tried to get Judge Lucy Koh to disallow a video that Apple lawyers wanted to show the jury. That video, produced by the Federal Judicial Center, is meant to teach jurors about patents. It includes shots of Apple products and for that reason Samsung did not want jurors to watch it. Judge Koh, however, decided to allow the video. Watch the video.
