In this week's device news wrap up, Amazon released a new streaming television device and Samsung made several devices available in worldwide markets. Additionally, Protag announced Duet, a Bluetooth tracking tag and details leak about the upcoming LG G3.

Amazon's streaming device: Fire TV
Toward the beginning of the month, Amazon released the latest of several devices recently made available for leveraging bandwidth to stream content. Amazon's Fire TV is a small box device that is plugged into a high-definition television to allow the user to stream programs from Netflix, Prime Instant Video, Hulu Plus and other platforms. The system includes a voice search feature, a quad-core processor and Amazon FreeTime parental controls.

Worldwide launch of Samsung's Galaxy S5, wearable devices
On April 11, Samsung made its Galaxy S5, Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit available in worldwide markets. Now, customers in 125 countries, including regions like the U.S., Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and most of Asia Pacific, can purchase the smartphone and wearable devices, according to InformationWeek contributor Eric Zeman.

The Galaxy S5 boasts a 5.1-inch display, 2GB of available RAM and 16 to 32 GB of storage space. The Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo feature a 1.63-inch touchscreen interface, a 1GHz dual-core processor and 4GB of storage. The Gear 2 also has a built-in camera on the body of the device.

"Wearable devices are and will continue to play a huge part in the way our customers use mobile technology," said Telecom Retail CEO Chris Quin, according to Computerworld New Zealand. "Samsung is showing some great innovation in this field with the latest version of its smart watch, the Gear 2 along with the Gear Fit – a wrist device that will keep you connected while on the move and allows its users to take advantage of a number of health-related features."

Protag's Bluetooth tracking tag Duet
Recently, Protag released a new device to help users keep track of their important mobile hardware. The device, called Duet, is a Bluetooth tracking tag that can be linked with smartphones to prevent individuals from losing them or leaving them behind. Duet has the capability to alert users if their smartphone moves beyond 10 meters of their current location as well as enabling the phone to ring even if on silent. The tag can also be attached to other important items like purses, laptop bags or luggage, and paired with the PROTAG application to enable the individual to monitor all tagged articles. Duet works with most iPhone and Android models, and operates on a 3V coin lithium battery which provides power for up to six months.

LG G3 details leaked
As consumers wait for news on the release of the LG G3, details about the upcoming device have leaked, including information about the smartphone's display, processor and operating system, according to TechRadar contributor James Rogerson. The LG G3 will reportedly feature 5.5-inch HD display, boasting 534 pixels per inch. Additionally, the device will have an octa-core processor and will run on the Android 4.4 KitKat OS.
