There are few companies in the world that appear less in need of financial assitance than Samsung, but that’s just what the company may get in its patent fight with Apple. It’s getting it from Google, another deep-pocketed player with a strong interest in protecting its Android mobile operating system. Apple and Samsung are currently engaged in a patent lawsuit in San Jose, and yesterday a Google lawyer reportedly testified that Google told Samsung it would indemnify the Korean company’s losses related to some of the patents and that it would take over the defense of some patents if needed. The two patents at issue cover background synchronization and universal search.
