FCC seeks comment on mobile broadband (RCR Mobile Minute)

Mobile Minute:
The Mobile Minute is sponsored by SpiderCloud Wireless.
For now, mobile network operators are not subject to the same net neutrality rules that affect wireline operators, but the FCC is seeking public comment on this stance, just as it is on its other net neutrality proposals. “We tentatively conclude that we should maintain the same approach in today’s notice,” the FCC wrote in its proposal, adding “We seek comment on this approach.”
And there are sure to be plenty of comments. Consumer advocates understand that AT&T and Verizon are interested in eliminating wired service in some rural areas and replacing it with wireless access as the only connection for some communities. Without a net neutrality rule, operators will have the ability to block some content, charge extra for other content, and deliver some content at a faster rate.
