NICE, France – Wireless operators are facing increased competition from both within their ranks as well as from new, over-the-top entrants. Traditionally, a wireless operator’s ace card was the data it controlled regarding its customers, allowing operators to tailor services to a specific need.
However, with the number of customers and connections continuing to grow and the amount of data being transmitted growing even faster, analyzing that data has become a challenge.
Looking to ease the congestion, Guavus said it has signed a deal with Reverb Networks to provide its big data analytics solution into Reverb’s radio access network Centralized Self Optimizing Network solution. The deal is designed to give telecommunication providers a broader view of network traffic and allow them to react quicker to that information.
The Reverb CSON platform provides radio performance indicator information, which is then funneled through the Guavus Reflex platform to provide this view into network traffic down to a sector level. Guavus claims that those operators can then create policies for service quality in real-time, if needed. Such flexibility is becoming more important as pricing competition has increased, including many carriers offering to buy-out customers from contracts and removing a significant barrier to churn.
Guavus, which said it works with four of the domestic markets top five wireless operators as well as with 80% of the market’s cable operators, currently works with Reverb on providing RAN analysis to a “tier-one” wireless operator serving more than 20 million customers.
