Microsoft is making leadership changes, proceeding with its planned layoffs, and funneling cash back to shareholders. Today the software giant said that Visa CEO Charles Scharf and Kraft CFO Teri List-Stoll will join its board. They will replace Dave Marquardt and Dina Dublon, whose terms are ending.
Meanwhile ZDNet is reporting that Microsoft will cut more jobs tomorrow, as part of its previously announced plan to eliminate 18,000 jobs. The company said in July that most of those cuts would be announced by January, and it has already let go thousands of people. Many of the employees who lost their jobs in the first round of layoffs were employees in Finland who worked at Nokia. Microsoft slashed the headcount after buying that business.
Finally, Microsoft will continue its tradition of increasing its dividend. The board of directors announced an 11% increase in its dividend, boosting it to 31 cents per share.
