On this episode of HetNet Happenings, RCR Wireless News Managing Editor Sean Kinney takes a look back at PCIA’s 2015 Wireless Infrastructure Show in Hollywood, Fla.
The Wireless Infrastructure Show brought together leaders from the distributed antenna system, small cell, Wi-Fi, tower and wireless infrastructure sectors.
Kinney hears from colleague Martha DeGrasse, an editor for RCR, and Mike Collado, VP of marketing, for SOLiD Technologies, about the latest in DAS technology.
Collado points to the increasing densification of metro networks as well as the apparent convergence of small cell and DAS.
Next up, CommScope’s Steve Kemp, manager of site solutions, talks with DeGrasse about the work the Texas-based company is doing in the small cell space.
From there, Nokia North America’s Chief Business Development Officer Chris Stark discusses the company’s vision for the connected future.
Once true heterogenous networks are created, with seamless hand-off between DAS, small cell, Wi-Fi and LTE networks, Stark envisions “mega city concepts” that push broad scale quality-of-life improvements for large groups of people.
He wonders how the world would change if each person is able to free up two additional hours each day with the help of robust technology deployments.
