Crull replaces Hallock as CMO, tasked with overseeing Sprint marketing efforts
Sprint continued its management shakeup, announcing this week the appointment of Kevin Crull as CMO effective May 31. Crull is replacing former CMO Jeff Hallock who recently left the company.
Crull will be tasked with overseeing all products, services, brands and advertising, customer acquisition and retention, and all digital and social efforts at Sprint. Crull will report to Sprint President and CEO Marcelo Claure, who took that position last August to replace long-time CEO Dan Hesse.
Crull, who will be stationed near Sprint’s headquarters in Overland Park, Kan., most recently served as COO and president at Canadian media and broadcasting company Bell Media. That experience could feed Sprint’s growing multimedia plans.
“Kevin did an amazing job at Bell Media and I expect him to do even better at Sprint,” said Claure in a statement. “Sprint is privileged to attract someone of his caliber and experience in media, content, and wireless. As the industry shifts towards providing unique experiences and content to wireless customers, Kevin’s exceptional experience will allow him to be a great contributor in Sprint’s transformation journey.”
Prior to his stint at Bell, Crull led consumer and small-business sales and marketing at AT&T, and was SVP and GM of AT&T’s wireless initiatives.
Just over a year ago, former SVP of networks Bob Azzi left the carrier, followed closely by president of network operations Steve Elfman. Those moves opened up a position for John Saw, formerly SVP of technical architecture, to be promoted to chief network officer.
