Update three, 6:00 p.m. CST Aug. 4: T-Mobile US and Sprint networks are out in the same area as AT&T and Verizon Wireless networks, according to multiple reports.
Live outage maps show networks are down from Central Indiana through Kentucky and Tennesse down into Alabama.
Update two, 5:15 p.m. CST Aug. 4: Based on live outage maps provided by DownDetector.com, Verizon Wireless network outages appear to have become centered on Kentucky, Tennessee and the northern portion of Alabama.
AT&T seems to be experiencing the same geographic shift from the coasts to the aforementioned tri-state area. Outage information for T-Mobile US and Sprint was not immediately available.
Comcast, according to DownDetector.com, has solved the problems reported earlier today, but is also experiencing outages in the impacted part of the Southeast.
Update, 1:30 p.m. CST Aug. 4: RCR Wireless News has received reports throughout the morning of major outages affecting customers of all four major wireless carriers: Verizon Wireless, AT&T, T-Mobile US and Sprint.
Based on outage maps produced by DownDetector.com, Verizon is having issues in San Francisco and the Los Angeles and San Diego areas, as well as along the Eastern seaboard, and other major metro areas including Tampa, Kansas City and Dallas.
AT&T and Sprint also generated a high volume of network outage complaints in the same general areas. While T-Mobile US is also apparently experiencing problems, those issues don’t appear to be on the scale as with the other carriers.
Developing story
According to third-party network monitoring site DownDetector.com, Comcast subscribers in Seattle, San Francisco, Denver, Atlanta, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, New York and other metropolitan areas are dealing with a service outage.
There is very little information regarding the apparent outage available as of Tuesday morning. Although it’s not particularly unusual, the Comcast customer service-specific Twitter account @comcastcares on Tuesday morning was inundated with complaints and threats of discontinuing the service.
One Twitter user wrote: “27 years as a loyal customer, and I’m about ready to jump ship.”
Another user wrote, “Just when I thought @comcast @comcastcares couldn’t be any worse, my Internet and phone goes down.”
RCR Wireless News will update this story as information becomes available.
