As France-based Alcatel-Lucent moves closer to a merger with Nokia, the company is making its mark with the construction of a $55 million regional headquarters building in Plano, Texas.
There’s a significant telecom presence in and around the area with the likes of AT&T, Ericsson, Nokia, CommScope, Fujitsu, GE and many other ecosystem players situated in the area.
The construction is being done by Dallas-based Cawley Partners with Pacific Coast Capital Partners. Bank of the Ozarks is financing construction, with building design by Morrison Dillworth + Walls. Hill and Wilkinson is the general contractor.
The office, located at Independence Parkway and Lotus Drive, will be four stories and 250,000 square feet, and scheduled for completion in late 2016, according to reports. Alcatel-Lucent already has two buildings in the area but will consolidate operations into the new facility.
Developer Bill Cawley told the Dallas Morning News: “We are excited to be partnering with such a great leader in the telecommunications industry. This project gives us the opportunity to creatively design and build a cutting-edge, consolidated, regional HQ for Alcatel-Lucent.”
Cawley said the building will include laboratories, creative work areas and a rooftop terrace.
The $16.5 billion Alcatel-Lucent/Nokia merger has received regulator approval from both the European Commission and U.S. Department of Justice. The all share-based deal is expected to close in the first half of 2016.
