Apple iOS 9 upgrade causing crashes and glitches

A considerable number of Apple customers are reporting device crashes and glitches after installing the new iOS 9 update. Customers took to Twitter to air their complaints about the issues related to the new operating system.

Some reported problems completing the upgrade, saying their attempts failed after several minutes, so they had to start the process over.

Overloaded servers could be to blame for the issues as large numbers of people try to update at the same time, a tech analyst speculated.

Apple also confirmed the issues on Twitter saying many of them can be fixed with a “hard reset.”

This is not the first time a new version of Apple’s iOS operating system caused issues with customers’ phones. The iOS 8 upgrade had many bugs that had to be corrected with subsequent software patches.

Other issues seem to be happening to users with older devices. There are numerous reports of devices seizing up on the “swipe to upgrade” page. Apple claimed to have made iOS 9 more compatible with legacy devices after iOS 8 had similar issues.

IT experts suggest waiting a few days before downloading upgrades to any product to afford developers time to work out any bugs.

New features of iOS 9  include a new dashboard that is designed to make searches on your phone more efficient and precise. The home screen will also give you suggestions of what it thinks you would find useful based on your search history.

Other features include upgrades to messaging apps that allow for “quick replies” and improved battery life, which Apple says could add an extra hour of usage to the device.
