A Damascus, Oregon, couple has gained national media attention after Verizon Wireless sent them a bill for cellular service totaling a whopping $2,156,593.64.
Ken Slusher and his partner opened the account in November, received the bill, closed the account in December and began trying to get some clarity on the charges.
Slusher told a local news station the situation has “been very stressful to say the least,” and even derailed the couple from closing sale on a home.
A Verizon rep told ABC News the company apologized for the “programming error.”
“The error caused him to receive an incorrect voice message that he owed $2 million on his bill. We are correcting the error now and have resolved the issue to his satisfaction.”
