Verizon throws cash at Sprint, T-Mobile and AT&T customers

Verizon offers up to $650 for Sprint, T-Mobile and AT&T customers willing to switch

Verizon Wireless has joined smaller rivals T-Mobile US and Sprint in offering up to $650 for customers willing to change their wireless allegiance.

The new promotion calls for Verizon Wireless to pay up to $650 towards the remaining balance on a mobile device or up to $350 towards an early termination fee for current postpaid customers willing to switch to the carrier. Those customers taking advantage of the device payment are required to trade in that device to Verizon Wireless, with all customers taking advantage of the promotion needing to activate a new line of service and purchase a device on a payment plan.

The offer is valid for up to 10 lines of service ported into Verizon Wireless, with payments for the new line of service in the form of a Visa prepaid card.

AT&T Mobility kicked off the trend by targeting T-Mobile US customers with up to $450 in incentives to switch, though dropped the offer a month later. T-Mobile US quickly jumped on board, offering up to $650 at customers willing to switch carriers, announcing its offer in early 2014.

Sprint earlier this year said it would pay all costs associated with a customer switching from a rival carrier, including any ETF or remaining device payment. That program also requires customers to trade in their old device to receive the financial reimbursement.

AT&T Mobility is currently offering a $650 credit to new lines of service in the form of “buy-one, get-one” offer on select mobile devices.
