Striking new videos give tower safety a face
Safety. It’s a word that’s constantly stressed in the cell tower industry. Since being a tower climber is one of the world’s most dangerous jobs, it only makes sense. But as many times as one hears about safety, it’s hard to always visualize what safety looks like. The National Association of Tower Erectors launched a new set of videos to help remedy this. The videos are part of NATE’s #ClimberConnection campaign, and feature Todd Schlekeway, executive director for NATE, explaining the importance of the initiative.
In addition to helpful safety information, there’s some stunning shots of tower climbers at extreme heights in the video that are extremely well done and worth watching for the visuals alone. The recently released video on 100% tie-off in particular has some fantastic tower scenes and also gets great footage of what 100% tie-off looks like and the steps to ensure that you are doing so with all of your equipment.
Here’s the #ClimberConnection video about PPE inspection.
Schlekeway encourages everyone to share these videos to widen NATE’s safety message. NATE promises to release a new video every month this year, so keep an eye out for further installments in the series on NATE’s YouTube channel.
