The carrier completed a fiber network expansion, adding a DWDM route linking Frankfurt and Warsaw
Telia Carrier extended the reach of its global IP backbone through the completion of the Frankfurt-Warsaw Express, a direct dense wavelength division multiplexing fiber network route from Frankfurt, Germany, to Warsaw, Poland.
The European carrier said the additional route provides increased resiliency and redundancy to its carrier’s network, which offers wholesale IP transit, wavelength and Ethernet services for carriers, content providers, cloud providers and mobile operators in the region.
The Frankfurt-Warsaw Express includes break-outs in Prague, Czech Republic, and Nuremberg, Germany, allowing Telia Carrier to serve the growing Czech and Polish regions and address network traffic coming into Warsaw from China and Russia. Additionally, Telia Carrier said it offers a low latency alternative path to major data center hot spots in Germany, such as Berlin and Munich.
“Frankfurt to Warsaw is one of the largest telecom routes in Europe. This expansion enables Telia Carrier to serve customers in the region with diverse connections and low latency,” said Johan Godal, global product manager, wavelength and network outsourcing services, at Telia Carrier.
The carrier, part of Nordic telecommunications group Telia Company, said it connects more than 200 points of presence across Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East, including more than 70 in North America.
IBM opens new cloud data center in Norway
IBM recently announced the opening of a cloud data center near Oslo, Norway.
