Nestlé will use Telefonica IoT platform in more than 50 countries
Telefónica Business Solutions signed an agreement with Nestlé to provide “internet of things” communications in more than 50 countries for the the company’s coffee-related businesses.
With Telefonica’s IoT solutions, Nestle is looking to monitor the coffee solutions’ parameters to optimize customer experience and increase business efficiency. The food firm said it will be able to adjust the coffee taste, and expects to be more efficient due to remote configuration and predictive maintenance models.
The Swiss-based firm has integrated Telefónica’s machine-to-machine solution, which is a platform designed to manage and control IoT communications fully developed by Telefónica. New Nestlé Professional coffee solutions will incorporate the telemetry solution while legacy versions will have an add-on module to provide the same capabilities.
Telefonica, Huawei complete test for 5G UCNC Radio Access Networks
Telefónica and Huawei said they completed what is claims to be the world’s first proof-of-concept of “5G” user centric and no cell radio access network architecture. The 5G UCNC platform is part of the 5G innovation project Telefonica and Huawei signed as a “5G&NG-RAN Joint Innovation Agreement” in June 2016.
Huawei said the platform enables the coordination of many base station nodes to eliminate handovers between cells and reduce interference from adjacent cells. In addition to the UCNC PoC tests, Huawei and Telefónica said they successfully demonstrated millimeter wave multi-user multiple-input/multiple-output antenna technology based on the 5G “New Radio” specification plan and MIMO TDD technology.
