Buildings on 2016 strategic agreement between BT and Deutsche Telekom.
BARCELONA, Spain – U.K. telecommunications operator BT and Deutsche Telekom signed a partnership to offer global network services to business customers.
BT said the partnership would enable DT’s business unit T-Systems to offer its customers the option of using its network services to connect their operations around the world. T-Systems and BT will be able to interconnect their networks to meet the requirements of individual customers, which would allow T-Systems to increase its international reach by more than 60%, the companies said.
The new deal builds on an agreement between the two groups from late last year in which BT’s biggest enterprise customers were given access to SAP business applications and services from T-Systems’ data centers. DT owns 12% of BT following the sale of EE last year.
“We are looking forward to working closely with T-Systems to give their customers more choice in the way they can leverage networks to accelerate their global expansion and optimize their technology investments,” said BT Global Services CEO Luis Alvarez. “In addition to our existing multinational customers, this agreement will allow us to serve an extended customer base via T-Systems.”
