Telefonica targets U.S, European IoT markets with NetComm

Under the deal, the NetComm will supply a range of 3G/4G M2M/IoT devices to Telefonica

Australian company NetComm Wireless and Spanish telecommunications giant Telefonica have signed an IoT device supply agreement. The deal will allow NetComm to further strengthen its presence in the U.S. and Europe, as well as offering new 3G/4G M2M/IoT capabilities for smart city, mobility, retail and energy applications across multiple geographies as Telefonica extends its IoT reach to more than 2,500 enterprises worldwide.

“Telefonica is driving digital transformation on a global scale with a focus on IoT innovation and we are pleased to join Telefónica’s partner ecosystem as the need for smart remote communication between business assets and machines becomes ever more critical for enterprises globally,” said, Philip Micallef, General Manager M2M, NetComm Wireless.

Under the agreement, NetComm Wireless will supply a range of 3G/4G M2M/IoT devices including the: 4G M2M Router (NTC-140); 3G M2M Router Series (NTC-6200) and its 3G Serial Modem (NTC-3000).

Headquartered in Sidney, NetComm Wireless is a developer of Fixed Wireless broadband, wireless M2M/Industrial IoT and Fiber and Cable to the distribution point (FTTdp / CTTdp) technologies.

Tata Consultancy Services signs IoT deal with Siemens

In related news, Tata Consultancy Services and German company Siemens have recently unveiled a new collaboration around internet of things (IoT) innovation.

The new collaboration agreement mainly focuses on customers in the manufacturing, energy, building technology, healthcare and railway industries.

The two firms said that the partnership will enable customers in these industries to benefit from new data insights and services based on MindSphere, the cloud-based, open IoT operating system from Siemens.

Customers will benefit from new applications for MindSphere by TCS, enabling new digital and analytical services such as predictive maintenance and energy monitoring.

Through this partnership, TCS will also support developments around MindConnect Nano, the cloud gateway that can be used to connect production to cloud-based analysis of machine and production data. In addition, Siemens and TCS will work to explore implementing the MindSphere core platform, including operation and support services such as application and infrastructure management as well as analytical and testing services.
