Sigfox’s new facility will allow the French company to expand its local network team
French provider of connectivity for the internet of things (IoT) Sigfox has opened its third U.S. office in Dallas, Texas.
Sigfox has initially launched operations in the U.S. in 2015, with the opening of its headquarters in Boston, along with a satellite office in San Francisco.
The French firm said company will be using the new office space to expand its U.S. network team to meet the growing demands of Sigfox’s ongoing national network deployment. The new office will be led by Fakri Sadeh, VP of networks for Sigfox in North America.
“This facility will be the home office for the U.S. network team, which is expected to grow to 15 full-time employees, several contractors and interns by the end of 2017,” Sigfox North America communications director, Kristi Mason, told Enterprise IoT Insight.
In Texas, Sigfox has ongoing projects in various verticals including oil and gas, healthcare, and smart cities, both tracking and monitoring assets. In addition, the company is aiming to address supply chain and logistics customers who are active in the region and looking to further develop IoT-enabled capabilities.
Mason said that the company is seeing growing opportunities nationwide in several verticals including shipping and logistics, agriculture, facilities/building management, oil and gas, and utilities. “These verticals are looking for solutions that will create operational efficiencies and monitor their remote assets,” she added.
Sigfox network coverage in the greater Texas region currently includes the major metro areas of Dallas, Austin, Permian Basin, Houston, Fort Worth, Galveston, and several areas just outside Texas along the Gulf Coast.
The Sigfox network covers more than 60,000 square miles in the U.S., resulting in coverage of more than 20% of the population. The network is deployed in 19 regions, including major metros such as San Francisco, Chicago, Atlanta, New York City, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas.
Mason also said that the firm’s deployments this year is mainly focusing on the densification of the 19 regions in addition to new regions based on customer demands.
