Ayla Networks inks IoT cooperation agreement with China Unicom

Both companies will focus on developing solutions for smart home, connected car and AI

Ayla Networks, a global IoT platform for manufacturers has inked a cooperation agreement with China Unicom.

Under the agreement, both companies agreed to develop solutions for smart home and other IoT markets. The two firms said they will leverage their respective technology, products, services and channel resources to deliver innovative solutions in the IoT space.

Ayla Networks and China Unicom announced plans to develop solutions for different areas including smart home, connected car, intelligent cold chain, artificial intelligence (AI) and other IoT solutions.

“We see tremendous promise in working with China Unicom to build new IoT solutions that enhance the growing Ayla IoT platform ecosystem,” said Phillip Chang, co-founder, vice president and general manager of Greater China for Ayla Networks. “With China Unicom’s comprehensive high-quality information and communications services, we are particularly excited about developing mobile IoT solutions.”

In June 2017, China Unicom launched its global IoT connectivity cooperation initiative, through which it aims to expand the IoT business market and create more value through cooperation between the telco and its partners.

China Unicom highlighted that the Ayla platform not only speeds manufacturers’ time to market for connected products but “it also handles the intricacies of IoT security, performance, scalability, and interoperability.”

In July, Ericsson launched an open IoT platform with China Telecom in a move to allow enterprises to deploy and manage IoT devices.

The China Telecom IoT Open Platform is based on Ericsson’s Device Connection Platform (DCP), a global platform that is already being used by numerous enterprise customers in various industries to manage IoT services. The DCP was launched in 2012 and offers enterprise customers connectivity based on service-level agreements, and an overview of devices and access networks. The platforms is part of the vendor’s IoT Accelerator and is used by more than 25 operators, supporting over 2,000 enterprise customers.
