Industrial IoT tools will allow the Italian electronics firm to optimize predictive maintenance
Italian embedded electronics supplier Seco has partnered with Nordic provider of IoT systems Telenor Connexion for the development of the former’s new industrial IoT system.
The industrial IoT solution integrates Telenor Connexions’ managed connectivity and managed cloud solutions, with industrial hardware (sensors and gateways), software (web technologies, machine learning, data mining, edge computing, mobile apps) and services (predictive maintenance, remote asset and energy management, IoT Big Data analytics) from Seco.
Seco’s new system optimizes scheduling of corrective maintenance, enables real-time and predictive maintenance and prevents unexpected equipment failures, which extend the product life cycle. The system specifically targets the electromechanics field, but can be deployed in other industries as well, the company said.
“This marks a paradigm shift for Seco, which has been in the embedded market for over 38 years”, said Gianluca Venere, CSO & director of global sales at Seco. “It is a bold leap towards new opportunities, from the production of physical goods to a product-as-a-service business model.”
The solution features a rapid an easy installation as well as interoperability with previous systems. It has standard serial interface protocols such as Modbus and Canbus for PLCs, is seamlessly integrated with project management software, and provides API for third-party data management. Telenor Connexion’s global SIM ensures global coverage tailored to customer’s needs, 24/7 support service, as well as one single invoice.
“The pre-integrated technology from Telenor Connexion, combining hardware, global connectivity and cloud, enables Seco and us to create a one-stop-shop reducing time-to-market, costs and risks for end-customers”, said Cristoff Martin, CMO at Telenor Connexion. “It is a highly flexible solution fit for a range of usage areas and geographical markets.”
Telenor Connexion also said that it will supply mobile connectivity and managed IoT cloud on all products of Seco’s new industrial IoT product line.
Telenor Connexion is fully owned by Nordic telecommunications group Telenor. The company mainly focus on verticals including automotive, fleet management, security, utilities and industrial manufacturing.
