TIM Brasil to use Accedian’s SkyLIGHT virtualized solution as part of recent partnership
Accedian, a performance assurance solution specialist for mobile networks and enterprise-to-data center connectivity, announced it is teaming up with Brazilian national operator TIM Brasil. As part of the partnership, TIM Brasil will use Accedian’s SkyLIGHT virtualized solution to track the performance of its nationwide, mobile services.
According to Accedian, SkyLIGHT is the company’s first NFV-centered assurance solution that is completely virtualized. It is intended to improve a company’s network performance and infrastructure investments. TIM Brasil is the first operator based in Brazil to use this type of platform in the business services market.
“Our broad range of subscriber services includes wholesale, corporate, LTE mobile voice and data, and residential broadband. A critical part of our service delivery strategy is to assure network growth quality and maintaining the best-in-class customer experience,” said Marcelo Duarte, wholesale director at TIM Brasil.
TIM Brasil intends to leverage SkyLIGHT’s flexibility as the company moves its network from 4.5G to 5G. In June, Brazil signed an agreement with the E.U., U.S., South Korea, Japan and China to develop a platform for 5G, making it the sixth country to join a body that will determine how 5G technology operates in the world.
“Importantly, SkyLIGHT’s versatility means it will continue to ensure high-quality network performance and user experience as we upgrade our current network – firstly, to 4.5G and then 5G. We’re impressed by the accuracy, flexibility, and scalability of SkyLIGHT, and its significant contribution in enabling us to execute our wider growth strategy, now and into the future,” added Duarte.
Accedian’s SkyLIGHT streams actionable intelligence to big data analytics, reporting and control systems to achieve peak performance of large scale networks, according to the company, with new NFV capabilities that makes the solution more flexible and scalable.
“Brazil is the largest market for mobile in South America, and people and companies there are spending more on services like LTE data, broadband and business services,” said Accedian CEO Patrick Ostiguy. “As Brazil’s second largest mobile operator and also an established fixed-line provider, TIM Brasil is well positioned to benefit from this trend. We’re pleased to expand our existing relationship with TIM Brasil and play our part in helping them make the most of this opportunity with our market-leading network assurance technology.”
