The DAS will provide cellular coverage and capacity for French carriers Orange, Bouygues Telecom and SFR
Wireless communications solutions provider JMA Wireless has delivered its distributed antenna system to provide improved cellular coverage and capacity at 10 Grenelle, an office complex comprised of over 30,000 square meters, located in Paris, France.
The multi-carrier, multi-band TEKO DAS platform from JMA Wireless has been deployed by French system integrator, INEO Tertiaire. This DAS solution enables mobile communications in the two buildings housing offices, an auditorium, several restaurants, parking, a fitness center and several green spaces, JMA Wireless said.
The firm said that environmentally sustainable venues, such as 10 Grenelle, present challenges to wireless signals entering and leaving buildings, which leads to poor cellular connectivity. However, through the deployment of the TEKO DAS, 10 Grenelle will enable in-building cellular coverage and capacity for local mobile carriers Orange, Bouygues Telecom and SFR. The DAS supports the 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz and 2600 MHz bands.
“Environmentally friendly buildings, along with the increase in the number of mobile phone calls originating inside, have made it much more challenging to provide in-building cellular connectivity,” said Andrea Casini, SVP of international business at JMA Wireless. “Since the newspapers Les Échos and Le Parisien have offices at 10 Grenelle, it is particularly critical that the TEKO DAS ensure powerful in-building coverage for its reporters. Dead zones are just not an option.”
The TEKO DAS supports two sectors with six high-power remote units (RUs) for wireless coverage throughout the two buildings and one low power RU for the parking area. The solution enables connectivity between the RUs and the master unit (MU) with a single optical fiber per remote unit, resulting in installation savings of at least 50%, the company said.
The TEKO DAS provides cellular coverage and capacity for indoor and outdoor environments. One of its main components, the rack-mounted MU), combines different high-speed wireless technologies, such as LTE and UMTS, with multiple bands to serve the various needs of the environment. The TEKO DAS can introduce new services or enhance existing technology without any major system upgrades, JMA Wireless said.
Systems integrator INEO Tertiaire, which installed the DAS, focuses on enterprise solutions for intelligent and efficient buildings in France. In addition to wireless installations, INEO Tertiaire’s competencies cover electrical installation and distribution, security, access control, CCTV, fire safety, video conferencing, dynamic display, and smart building supervision.
