The carrier said that the new tool will allow customers to access customized IoT data pricing
Sprint has launched the Curiosity IoT Estimation Tool, which it claims is the industry’s first interactive online estimation tool which allows small and medium-size business and enterprise customers, immediate access to customized Sprint Curiosity IoT data pricing.
The Sprint Curiosity IoT Estimation Tool allows users to select one or several features to create custom pricing information, the carrier said.
The features included in the new tool are:
-Custom APNs – Unique Access Point Names for IoT devices
-SMS Alerts – Real-time SMS alerts and notifications when devices are triggered
-VPN Access – The ability to connect IoT devices through a specific VPN
-Device Management – Over-the-air device management and configuration
-Static IP – Permanent fixed IP address capabilities
-Data Management – Data services for the aggregation, storage and management of IoT data
Sprint also highlighted that the estimation tool also provides international IoT data rates in six different regions around the world to help global organizations plan and build IoT solutions.

Regardless of which IoT planning stage you’re in, this tool quickly and easily shows customized pricing by gigabyte for our leading IoT data services,” said Ivo Rook, SVP of IoT and product development for Sprint. “By showing our customers exactly what they need to budget for IoT data services, it eliminates the guess work and highlights the confidence we have in our IoT data pricing. We are the first company to develop a tool that shows customized pricing and we are confident this will be very helpful to organizations around the world.”
Once an estimation is completed by a customer, it is sent to a dedicated Sprint IoT sales team member who is able to turn the estimation into a quote – which streamlines the process of implementing the IoT data solution, the carrier said.
Curiosity IoT is a dedicated, virtualized and distributed IoT network and operating system built by Sprint to handle data from a variety of IoT use cases and devices.
When coupled with Sprint’s 5G service, Curiosity’s IoT core network will be capable of supporting artificial intelligence, robotics, edge computing, autonomous vehicles and other IoT systems requiring extreme low-latency and high-bandwidth, the carrier said.
Sprint has announced plans to launch commercial 5G services starting in May in nine markets. Sprint’s first 5G cities will be Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas and Kansas City, with Houston, Los Angeles, New York City, Phoenix and Washington D.C. also slated to launch in the first half of 2019.
The carrier’s total initial 5G footprint is expected to cover more than 1,000 square miles across all these cities.
