Verizon, Cradlepoint, Arrow among accelerator partners
Qualcomm Technologies, a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated, announced the launch of its Smart Cities Accelerator Program.
The program will bring together companies that utilize Qualcomm’s products to provide a solutions-focused website specifically for smart cities applications around the world.
The new program is designed to connect cities, municipalities, government agencies and enterprises with an ecosystem of providers offering technology-based solutions tailored for smart city applications.
Program members include hardware and software providers, cloud solution providers, system integrators, design and manufacturing companies, as well as companies offering end-to-end solutions targeting smart cities initiatives.
“The Qualcomm Smart Cities Accelerator Program is a central hub for Smart Cities solution providers,” said Sanjeet Pandit, senior director, business development and head of smart cities, Qualcomm Technologies. “By working with proven expertise and deployed solutions, cities, municipalities, government agencies and enterprises can speed the realization of their smart cities visions. This program aims to foster a rich ecosystem of B2B collaborations that we hope will speed the development and deployment of smart cities solutions around the globe.”

Member companies offer a comprehensive suite of services and Qualcomm Technologies tech-based solutions designed to address multiple verticals and aspects of smart cities.
Current members of the program include Arrow, Askey, Ayla Networks, Cradlepoint, Esplendor Group, Guardhat, MuSpace, Quantela, TSM, UROS, USI Global, Verizon, Xingtera, and dozens of other companies and organizations.
In September last year, Qualcomm, in partnership with Brazilian ICT R&D group CPqD, had opened its first reference center exclusively for the development of IoT solutions in the world.
Set up on the smart campus of the Facens university, in Sorocaba, São Paulo state, the Qualcomm IoT reference center is aimed mostly at the development of prototypes and solutions for smart city applications.
According to Qualcomm, the center will offer training courses and showcase the benefits of IoT to decision makers in the public sector. In this first phase, Qualcomm, CPqD and Facens are working in the development of an intelligent camera with AI capabilities to be used by Brazilian industries and municipalities
