Telkonet, METUS announce integration to optimize HVAC control

Telkonet has announced a strategic partnership with Mitsubishi Electric Trane HVAC US (METUS), a supplier of ductless and ducted mini-split and Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) heat-pump and air-conditioning systems.

Together the companies have built a native integration between City Multi VRF zoning systems and Telkonet’s EcoSmart energy management platform. Now, with the integration, the VRF heating and cooling systems can be controlled and managed by the EcoSmart energy management platform, prioritizing room-level occupant comfort while managing the health and well-being of the building and utilizing energy more efficiently, the companies said.

Telkonet converts Mitsubishi Electric’s own native communication protocol to the EcoSmart room automation controllers in order to manage the indoor unit while maximizing operational efficiency.

“Telkonet is proud to work with an industry leader like METUS and provide the market with optimized solutions for efficiency and user experience,” said Jeff Sobieski, CTO, Telkonet. “This new integration represents a significant step in expanded intelligent automation of HVAC systems.”

“We’re always seeking new ways to simplify and improve HVAC operation for our customers,” said Charles Miltiades, director of controls, products, and solutions, METUS. “With Telkonet’s EcoSmart energy management platform, operation of City Multi VRF systems can be easily managed to optimize room comfort.”

The partners said that the integration of City Multi VRF zoning systems and Telkonet’s EcoSmart energy management platform represents a step forward for intelligent building integrations.

EcoSmart intelligent automation platform is supported by a full-suite of IoT-connected devices that provide in-depth energy usage information and analysis, allowing building operators to reduce energy expenses. Vertical markets that benefit from EcoSmart products include hospitality, education, military, government, healthcare, and multiple dwelling housing.
