Tech Mahindra inaugurates 5G lab in Washington state

Tech Mahindra’s goal is to develop mutli-vendor 5G solutions for enterprises

Indian company Tech Mahindra, a provider of digital transformation, consulting, and business re-engineering services and solutions, announced the opening of a 5G Lab in the United States.

The new facility, located in Bellevue, Washington has the aim of combining an ecosystem of partners and help build end-to-end solutions for enterprises.

The 5G lab will enable software and hardware developers, operators, and cloud service providers to co-create 5G-based solutions.

Manish Vyas, President, Communications, Media and Entertainment Business, and CEO, Network Services, at Tech Mahindra, said, “As digital transformation becomes the norm for enterprises across the globe, 5G-powered abilities, use cases, and market opportunities will revamp the way we work, live, and play – now and in the future. The West Coast and particularly the Greater Seattle area is a very prominent innovation hub; and the newly launched 5G lab is one such deep investment to help customers in the region and across the globe to accelerate their innovation journey and more importantly leverage Tech Mahindra’s deep expertise to make this technology both real and impactful.”

Tech Mahindra also said its 5G offerings will help communication service providers to move to a more open, virtualized and fully interoperable 5G mobile network and provide an enhanced experience to end-users. The lab has a fully integrated offering of infrastructure, testing and network set up including a team of 5G engineers at site to help customers.

Tech Mahindra employs over 151,000 professionals across 90 countries and has a global customer base of 1,224 companies.

The Indian company chiefly focuses on leveraging next-generation technologies including 5G, Blockchain, quantum computing, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.

Last month, Tech Mahindra and Indian telco Bharti Airtel announced a strategic partnership to build and market 5G-based solutions in the Indian market.

Under the terms of the deal, Airtel and Tech Mahindra will set up a joint 5G innovation lab for developing locally-developed use cases for the Indian and global markets.

The two companies will also bring to market customized enterprise grade private networks, which will combine Airtel’s 5G-ready mobile network, fiber, SDWAN, and IoT with Tech Mahindra’s system integration capabilities. The companies will initially focus on segments such as automobiles, aviation, ports, utilities, chemicals, oil & gas and expand to other industries in the future.
