AWS expands presence in the Nordic, Baltic regions via new Tele2 deal

As part of the collaboration, Tele2 now joins the AWS Partner Network (APN)

Nordic operator Tele2 announced a collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to enhance the cloud services and cloud management portfolio that it offers to its customers, the former said in a release.

Under the terms of the deal, Tele2 will leverage AWS cloud capabilities to support growing customer needs in the public sector and across different industry verticals. The carrier also said it aims to assist them with digitalization of processes to enable optimized manufacturing, efficient distribution and improved customer service experiences.

As part of the collaboration, Tele2 now joins the AWS Partner Network (APN). Tele2 will combine its advanced network and connectivity, security, encryption and managed services with the broad portfolio of AWS capabilities to create customer solutions tailored to specific sector needs for companies in the Nordic and Baltic region.

“Through this collaboration we will combine our high-performance communication and security with AWS cloud services, which will benefit our customers. This will also enable us to even better support our customers in the development of their business and for their digitalization journey”, said Stefan Trampus, executive vice oresident of B2B at Tele2.

This collaboration builds on Tele2’s existing relationship with AWS, as the Nordic operator has been using the AWS cloud for its own enterprise IT transformation, leveraging compute, analytics, and database capabilities, for several years.

“There is massive potential for organizations across the public and industry sectors to save costs, improve time to market and accelerate innovation through the elasticity and agility of the cloud. Through this collaboration with AWS, Tele2 is now even better equipped to help its customers across the Nordic and Baltic region accelerate that transformation and tap into new capabilities enabled through the intersection of 5G with edge cloud computing,” said Fabio Cerone, director of telecom industry for EMEA at AWS.

Tele2 also noted the collaboration with AWS will allow customers in the manufacturing sector to benefit from new Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) capabilities based on AWS Snow product family and IoT related services combining mobile connectivity with services such as AWS Greengrass IoT.
