Fastwyre expands to Alabama with purchase of Moundville

The acquisition is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2022

United States broadband provider Fastwyre has acquired Moundville Communications, a telecommunications provider in central Alabama, marking the former’s entry into the southern state.

American Broadband Holding Company, under the trade name Fastwyre Broadband, provides internet services, phone access lines and video to customers in Alaska, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, Texas and soon, residents in Alabama.

“We are committed to making Fastwyre a leading broadband service provider in Alabama,” said CEO Chris Eldredge. “The acquisition of Moundville Communications provides Fastwyre with immediate access to an attractive market in central Alabama while also providing a road for further expansion of high-quality, reliable broadband services into new Alabama communities.”

The acquisition, expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2022, comes roughly a year after Fastwyre picked up Nebraska-based BNT Broadband’s fiber assets. At the time of this first acquisition, Eldredge commented on the company’s goal to make the company “the preeminent broadband service provider for rural communities throughout the United States.”

“We are now accelerating into our company’s next phase of growth through continuous, organic expansion and acquisition,” he said.

For Moundville, the Fastwyre purchase provides the opportunity for the provider to “evolve into a regional fiber-based broadband provider,” according to Scott Taylor, president and CEO of Moundville Communications.

“With the support and resources of Fastwyre, Moundville Communications will be well-positioned to continue our commitment made 90 years ago of serving our community and customers, while expanding the availability of high-quality broadband services to new communities in Alabama,” he continued.
