EY and Software AG make deal to combine and unleash ‘apps, devices, data, clouds’

Professional services company Ernst & Young Global (EY) has announced a partnership with Germany-based enterprise data and analytics company Software AG to help enterprises with digital change in India and Germany, initially, rolling out to other markets. The partnership is focused on digitalisation, process management, system and data integration, API management, and IoT data and analytics.

EY is providing the industrial knowledge and Software AG is providing the tech tools, said a statement. The partnership is with EY in India at the outset; Software AG will make it work for customers in Germany, too, it said. “Further global expansion [is] planned,” they declared. The statement spotlighted “fragmented business processes and a lack of real-time data and insights due to legacy internal systems”.

Software AG’s central proposition to break down legacy enterprise data silos to combine data with new IoT sources. A statement declared the German firm’s ARIS, Alfabet, Cumulocity IoT, and webMethods platforms “simplify the integration of applications, devices, data and clouds” and “empower streamlined processes and connect ‘things’ like sensors, machines, and robots”. EY teams have “deep experience” of them all, they said.

Joint enterprise projects will be geared towards improving process mapping and mining, with a view in particular to help with governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) management. The IoT angle is to ”analyze operational data and generate insights” via Software AG’s Cumulocity IoT platform. EY said it will build a centre of excellence “exclusively for Software AG” products in Bengaluru; to be staffed by 200 people.

Aman Dutta, Global Software AG Alliance Leader at EY, said: “Organizations are rapidly transforming to accelerate growth, remain competitive and adapt to the ever-changing digital landscape. [This alliance] combines the deep industry knowledge of EY with Software AG’s technology to bring a unified experience to clients, helping them truly integrate processes, technologies and people, and drive deeper data-driven insights to accelerate transformation.”

Joshua Husk, chief revenue officer at Software AG, said: “[Enterprises] are facing more challenges than ever before. Our goal is to help them overcome these challenges, become more resilient, and ultimately grow. We can do this by simplifying the world of connected technology, people, and data… and finding new ways to make day-to-day operations easier, more efficient, or more profitable. There’s no better way to extend this mission we’re on than by joining forces with EY.”
